The shareholders of Canter Vleeswarenfabriek BV (“Canter”) have sold 100% of the outstanding share capital to DGS Group BV (“DGS Group”).

Merging the two companies results in a strong organization that offers a complete product portfolio of meats and authentic family recipes to its professional customers. Canter’s Hergo butcher shops are also part of the transaction and as a result DGS Group will get into direct contact with its end customers.

Lindenaar & Co acted as advisor to the shareholders of Canter during the entire sale process. The activities consisted amongst others of writing an information memorandum, preparing a valuation analyses, structuring of the transaction, negotiating the Letter of Intent, coordination of the due diligence process, final negotiations and closing of the transaction.

Profile Canter
Profile Canter

Canter is a family business (since 1930) that produces and sells premium beef, veal and lamb meats. Canter is renowned in the Netherlands for its ‘Amsterdammertje’, the one and only authentic ‘Ossenworst’ (an Amsterdam beef specialty). Besides Canter, the five premium butcher shops ‘Hergo, de slager met een koksmuts’ are also part of the Amsterdam-based company. Canter and Hergo together form a unique combination of a manufacturing and retail business, where the butcher shops are the link between the factory and the consumer. Over the past years Canter has achieved a strong growth, partly due to the expansion of its existing product portfolio and partly due to an increase in the number of customers. As part of the new organization, Canter will continue to position itself within its own areas of expertise.
